The aim of the consultation was to seek feedback on privacy guidelines which will help drone users and the community to understand the privacy impacts of drones, encouraging drone use that is in line with community expectations.

Infrastructure planning guidelines for drone delivery services (November 2022)
The aim of the consultation was to ensure the guidelines are fit for purpose to manage the expected growth of drone operations in Australia in a manner that is safe, nationally consistent and considerate of the community and environment.
Submissions received informed the final version of the Infrastructure Planning Framework.

National Aviation Policy Issues Paper on Emerging Aviation Technologies (September 2020)
Under the previous government, the department released a National Aviation Policy Issues Paper on Emerging Aviation Technologies for industry and broader stakeholder consultation. This paper was the first step towards development of a national policy for the management of drones and other emerging aviation technologies:
- identify key opportunities and risks associated with these technologies;
- outline current approaches for managing issues; and
- propose the future policy direction.
The department received comments and submissions in response to the paper.
Noise regulation review (2019)
In 2019 the department reviewed noise regulations to determine the potential impact of drones, urban air mobility aircraft and specialised aircraft, such as supersonic jets and historic warbirds.
